Meet Nectir’s New Account Executive – Tim!

We believe that true innovation happens when passionate people come together to collaborate, share ideas, and challenge the status quo of education technology. Our team is growing, and the people we're adding say a lot about where we're headed.
We're excited to welcome Tim Gilbert to the team as an Account Executive, supporting our sales team in connecting with schools and helping them bring Nectir AI to their campuses. He brings a full career spent in education, a psychology background that shapes how he reads what people actually need, and a knack for solving problems and building relationships that outlast the sale.
Meet Tim!

1. Can you share a brief introduction to who you are, your background, and your role at Nectir?
Hi! I'm Tim Gilbert, an Account Executive at Nectir. I've spent my entire career in education, starting at South Dakota State University, then moving into the EdTech world working across customer success/project management and sales. No matter the role, I've always enjoyed helping people solve problems and building relationships along the way. I actually studied psychology in college at South Dakota State University, and I think that's shaped more of my career than I ever expected. I'm fascinated by how people think, what motivates them, and how the right support can help them accomplish things they didn't think were possible.
Outside of work, my favorite place to be is with my wife and two daughters. I'm also passionate about personal growth, so you'll often find me working toward a new fitness goal, listening to leadership podcasts, reading about psychology, or chasing one of my many ideas for the next project or adventure. And every once in a while, I'll dust off my guitar and remember why I started playing in the first place.
2. What were you like as a student? Was there a key moment in your educational journey that shaped how you think about learning?
I was the student who was always asking "why?" I liked understanding how things worked more than simply memorizing the answers. Studying psychology only fueled that curiosity.
Looking back, one of the biggest lessons I learned is that education doesn't stop after graduation. The people who continue to grow are the ones who stay curious and never stop learning. That's a mindset I've carried throughout my career.
3. What pulled you toward edtech specifically, and what made Nectir the right place for you?
I've always wanted my work to have a positive impact on people's lives. Education is one of those rare fields where helping one educator can ultimately help hundreds—or even thousands—of students.
Nectir stood out because of both the mission and the people. From my very first conversations, it was obvious that everyone genuinely cares about helping schools succeed. That's the kind of team I wanted to be part of.
4. What's a problem in education you're genuinely excited to help solve?
I'm excited about helping remove friction for educators.
Teachers and administrators have enough to think about without technology making their jobs harder. I love the idea of building tools that quietly make life easier so educators can spend more time doing what they do best: teaching, mentoring, and connecting with students.
If technology disappears into the background and simply helps people succeed, that's a win.
5. What topic are you showing up to a PowerPoint party with?
I'd probably present on why people get stuck—and more importantly, how they get unstuck. I'm fascinated by the psychology behind motivation, habits, and personal growth, and I love learning why small, intentional changes can lead to lasting transformation.
