Senior Full-Stack Engineer
About Nectir
Nectir is the secure AI infrastructure purpose-built for schools. Nectir AI provides 24/7 personalized learning support grounded in course content, without compromising trust, outcomes, or academic integrity. Nectir AI can be integrated into existing Learning Management Systems and is fully FERPA- and SOC 2-compliant. Trusted by 80,000 students across 100+ campuses, Nectir is backed by independent, peer-reviewed research demonstrating a 7.5% campuswide GPA increase.
About The Role
The Nectir AI platform is the product that every institution we work with logs into. It's a modern TypeScript web application where schools configure AI assistants grounded in their course content, integrate Nectir into the systems they already run on, and track how students actually engage. Over 100,000 students across 100+ campuses use it, and the surface area grows every quarter.
We're looking for a senior full-stack engineer who can take large projects from conception to completion across the platform. In a given quarter, you might rebuild the admin experience institutions use to set Nectir up, redesign how schools bring their course content into the system, ship a new analytics dashboard for faculty, harden the integration layer as we onboard a new LMS partner, or rethink the flow instructors use to configure AI assistants for their classrooms. You'll partner with AI engineering when features cross into the agent layer, but the core of your work is the platform itself: the product, the performance, the UX, and the architecture underneath it all.
You'll report to the Engineering Lead and collaborate closely with product, design, DevOps, and AI engineering.
What You'll Do
Own Large Platform Projects
- Take major features from concept to shipped: scoping, architecture, implementation, and rollout.
- Own whole product areas end to end, whether it's the institution admin experience, the faculty tools for configuring AI assistants, or the student-facing product.
- Partner with product and design to turn ambiguous customer needs into concrete, shippable product.
Full-Stack Feature Development
- Ship features end-to-end in TypeScript, across the client, server, and database.
- Build and extend the integrations that connect Nectir to the systems institutions already use.
- Write performant, typed, test-covered code that's safe to change.
Quality, Performance, and Craft
- Debug production issues across the stack, from the client to background services.
- Raise the bar on code quality, test coverage, and architectural clarity.
- Partner with DevOps on deployment, observability, and incident response.
AI-Augmented Development
- Use AI coding tools as a daily part of how you build.
- Scope work so agents handle what they do well and you own what they can't.
- Collaborate on AI-facing product features alongside AI engineering when they cross into the platform.
Team and Leverage
- Mentor teammates, review code thoughtfully, and strengthen the engineering culture.
- Contribute to architectural decisions as the platform scales.
- Communicate clearly in an async, distributed environment.
What We're Looking For
Must-Haves
- Strong full-stack engineering foundation: systems thinking, debugging, architecture, and the ability to reason about code you didn't write.
- Deep experience with TypeScript across both frontend and backend. Our entire stack is TypeScript.
- Track record of shipping and owning large, user-facing features in production web applications.
- Comfort working directly with relational databases like Postgres.
- Product mindset: you build cohesive experiences for real users, not just features. You have intuition for what's going to feel right before you ship it.
- Proficiency with AI coding tools as part of your daily workflow. We are an AI company, and fluency here is non-negotiable.
- Proactive, self-directed communication. You manage your own time, meet deadlines, and flag blockers before they become problems.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with modern full-stack React frameworks and server-rendered UI.
- Experience integrating with LMS platforms or LTI.
- Familiarity with background workers and durable job processing.
- A track record outside of day jobs: a company you started, an open-source project you maintain, or side projects you keep shipping.
- Deep curiosity about AI, or a real passion for education.
No degree requirements. What you know and can do is more important than where you learned it.
Working at Nectir
We're a startup, which means the work moves fast, but the impact is real. You will not be a small cog in a big machine here, but the one building the machine itself.
This is a full-time, remote position, open to candidates anywhere in Latin America. You should be comfortable working with a significant overlap with US business hours.
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary
- Comprehensive health coverage: medical, dental, and vision (for US-based roles only)
- 401k with employer match (for US-based roles only)
- Equity (stock options), so you share in what we're building
- Flexible, remote-first work environment
How to Apply
Please include a link to your GitHub, a portfolio of past projects, or a brief description of a technical challenge you've solved recently. We care about how you think through problems, not just what languages you know.
